Miriam Moczko makes music in response to the beauty and pain she experiences in life. With her viola, loop station and effects, she creates landscapes through which her voice shows the listener the way.
Her long-awaited debut album HEIMAT was released on 6 April 2022. A melancholic and
hopeful indie folk record.
With HEIMAT, Miriam Moczko returns to her roots: What does it actually mean to feel at home somewhere?
to feel at home? The songs are inspired by feelings, memories, objects and
Places.
"It's an album about my family history", says the singer. "About our origins,
in Upper Silesia and about the trauma and long-term consequences of the Second World War.
World War II. And about the relationship with my parents, who escaped communism and
came to West Germany."
The album was recorded in the music room of Miriam's flat in the Netherlands
and mixed in the Ballsaal Studios by Berlin sound engineer Peter Schmidt (Peter Fox, among others).
and Wallis Bird).
Miriam Moczko's music is influenced by artists such as Conor Oberst and Sharon van Etten,
Aldous Harding and Sophie Hunger
