FEDERWEISSERFEST WITTLICH
06 - 08 September
Wittlich

This year, the town of Wittlich is organising the Federweißerfest from 6 - 8 September for the first time in cooperation with Kulturkarawane.

The following artists will be giving you something to listen to over the next few days:

06.09. - The Strangers (Folk Pop/Rock)
19:30 - 21:00

With 4 musicians, 3 voices, 2 guitars and a unique sound, this young band takes you into their world of "old school folk rock".

Some listeners might be overcome by a feeling of nostalgia, as the band is heavily influenced by the music of the 70s. Influences such as the Eagles, Neil Young, Mark Knopfler and many more can certainly be surmised. But behind the nostalgic façade, the band's own creative identity quickly stands out.

Atmospheric ballads, feel-good folk songs to sing along to and energetic rock anthems - the band's repertoire is versatile! Not least because the songs come from not just one, but two talented songwriters: Vincent Klein and Isabell "Easy" Krohn.

With a fresh harmonic breeze and the groovy rhythms of Leonard Klein on drums and David Rauth on bass, the songs come to life and this band takes you on an electrifying musical journey.

07.09. – DJ Benno Benzo
14:00 - 16:00

To name it: Benne Benzo, simply Benne or tutto Benne aka Benedikt Roth. I'll capito ragazzi? The Swiss army knife among music DJs, from Trier on the Moselle, has been mixing, selecting and consuming music for half his life. Benne is not too shy for many a musical excursion and makes use of everything that makes the sound of music. Preferably diverse, colourful and megaminusaggresive. A colourful salad plate of musical fillets, so to speak. Pull the drawers out of your dresser. Go for it. tutto va benne!

07.09. – Josh Island Trio (Pop)
19:30 - 21:00

Josh Island is a true European. Born in the British county town of Milton Keynes to a Dutch family, he moved to Germany and the Netherlands before finally settling in Luxembourg. This natural curiosity for cultures and people is reflected in his music, which has the ability to transcend any geopolitical boundaries.

As a vocal powerhouse, soulful songwriter and captivating live performer, Josh Island has gained a loyal fan base throughout Europe. He draws inspiration from artists such as Sting, John Mayer and Jamie Cullum - a dynamic mix of catchy singer-songwriter pop with strong influences of soul and folk.

08.09. - Imaginary Friend (Slacker Pop)
18:30 - 20:00

"Tell me, do you need a new companion" - what could be better than an Imaginary Friend? Whether playful and carefree or melancholic and lost in thought, all the songs by the Mainz-based band are characterised by a comforting, airy lightness. The jazzy chords, surfy guitars and dreamy melodies of the 60s meet the likeable eccentricity of contemporary indie pop artists such as Mac Demarco. The lyrics tell, sometimes more, sometimes less tongue-in-cheek, of the zeitgeist of the "twentysomethings": of dating complications, of childhood nostalgia, of loss. Imaginary Friend speaks for a generation (wh)Y that is looking for the "because". Who, as depicted on the cover of the debut EP, have to wear all kinds of hats before they find the right one. A disorientation that just about saves itself from drifting into disillusionment by shrugging its shoulders.

Launched in August 2021, Imaginary Friend played their way to the forefront in Mainz the following year - still as a solo act by lead singer and songwriter Max Schäffer: as an atypical opener at the rock festival "Grill 'Em All", as support for Moritz Krämer & Band at Fenster zum Hof Open Air or at the 150th anniversary of Neustadt alongside acts such as Sinu or Hanne Kah. In 2023, he continued to perform locally, playing at festivals such as Lahneck Live and Trebur Open Air, supporting artists such as The Gardener & The Tree and Maeckes and even making his first appearances abroad. He was also one of five participants in the Pop RLP Masterclass, which led to collaborations with producers such as Andre Moghimi (Fewjar, Mhokomo) and Wolfgang Stach. Since autumn 2023, Max has no longer embarked on his musical journey solo with guitar and drum machine, but as a four-piece band. With Nicolas Lotz on lead guitar (also a member of The Rhino), Clemens Zirbes on bass and Tim Purwin on drums, the songs shine in the surf-pop guise that was always intended for them. Meanwhile, singles have been hailing regularly since the debut EP "Twentysomething" (March 2022). But the next major release was not long in coming - the second EP "With You" was released on 17 November!
