MY Urban Piano Trier will transform the city centre into an open stage in September 2025. Ten artistically designed pianos invite passers-by to pause, play along or simply listen. Whether young or old, professional or amateur: music becomes a unifying element in public spaces - spontaneous, creative and accessible to all.
Under the motto "Music connects!" sets My Urban Piano Trier a sign at a time of increasing social division, global crises and uncertainty. Music transcends borders, creates closeness and brings people of different backgrounds and realities together - right in the heart of the city.
The individually painted pianos are created in collaboration with citizens, accompanied by local artists and non-profit organisations. This makes participation visible and audible - in the spirit of a vibrant, diverse urban society.
A central partner is the Piano house Marcus Hübnerwhich not only provides the instruments as donations in kind and tunes them regularly, but also takes care of the transport - and as a co-initiator has helped to shape the project from the very beginning.
A special highlight are the four Producing Sessionswhich become public creative spaces: Amateur musicians and professionals improvise, compose and produce together on the following themes Hip hop, rock, vocals and music with children. Whether on the piano, with voice, guitar or beats - new worlds of sound are created here in the urban space and new encounters between people.
At several locations we also offer free taster piano lessons - low-threshold, spontaneous and open to anyone who simply wants to try out playing the piano.
With MY Urban Piano 2025 a consumer-free, cultural space for exchange, creativity and community - in the centre of Trier, in the centre of life.
The event is sponsored by the Fonds Soziokultur e.V., the Ministry for Family, Women, Culture and Integration and the City of Trier.
We would like to thank our sponsors and donors Stadtwerke Trier, Sparkasse Trier and EGP Gesellschaft für urbane Projektentwicklung in der Region Trier.
In co-operation with the Piano house Marcus Hübner.
