SINU is a German-Turkish indie pop duo. Deep vibes, spherical soundscapes with shimmering, lyrical lyrics that make skilful and unusual musical use of the German language. Emotional, awakened, thoughtful, socially critical. Rooted in a bilingual childhood, singer and lyricist Sinan Köylü writes songs in German and Turkish that fill the room with their richness of sound, poetic quality and beauty and put common language clichés of German and Turkish to rest.
Together with drummer and backing vocalist Tim Zeimet, he creates music that makes you listen, creates an emotional pull and casts a spell. Music that matters. Music that wants to grab the audience, wake them up and shake them up. Driving, modern beats, an unusually deep voice that suddenly breaks out into falsetto, minimalist guitars and a cathartic vibe characterise the music of SINU and are reminiscent of great role models such as Bon Iver, Milky Chance and Ry X. From love, intoxication and transience to criticism of racism and consumerism, SINU also dedicate themselves to those important topics that receive too little attention in the German-speaking pop landscape.
Support: PIJA - Texts with sounds
pija has always accompanied texts and sounds in various forms. She loves to let herself fall into music or disappear into theatre plays. These are all parallel worlds for her, which we can enter if we allow ourselves to. Then it's like breathing a sigh of relief because the hustle and bustle stops for a moment. Two years ago, she began to create such worlds herself. In her German song lyrics, she tries to make the scenes of her inner life tangible, in the hope that other people might feel the same way. It's about connection and the longing to be understood. Do you have the same questions? Do you have similar struggles? Do you find it so beautiful? The deep, sometimes poetic lyrics are complemented by electronically inspired beats that sometimes want to take centre stage and sometimes not. Pija is convinced that music can create closeness and that's what she wants to do when she stands on stage and sings. To be close, direct and immediate.
