With our caravan, we create colourful cultural oases and bring a little Berlin, Cologne or Münster flair between the Eifel and Hunsrück. „Alternativ“ steht hierbei nicht für eine bestimmte Zielgruppe, sondern für generationenübergreifende Veranstaltungen jenseits des Massenkonsums und festgefahrener Strukturen.
We organise concerts in extraordinary locations with international song poets, imaginative design and Christmas markets with real mulled wine or transforming disdainful concrete squares into colourful art and culture meadows. What is important to us is the realisation of our basic principle 'Culture is a human right'This is why we offer almost all of our events either free of charge or based on a solidarity-based admission principle: Tickets are available in three categories (solidarity ticket, standard ticket, supporter ticket) and everyone decides for themselves which category suits their circumstances.
We also attach great importance to the fair, climate-friendly and ecologically sustainable planning and realisation of all events.
The Kulturkarawane was launched in 2013 by the three caravan founders Jochen Leuf, Aline Pichon and Toby Urban as a non-profit company and has since developed into a solid core team within a colourful community of creative and cultural professionals thanks to a large number of hard-working fellow travellers.
The creative "concept head" of the Kulturkarawane. As Managing Director, Jochen not only keeps track of a wide range of projects and events, but also develops ideas, conceptualises, inspires and motivates.
It is not uncommon for the artist and business administration graduate to be startled out of his sleep at night and retreat to his desk with pen and paper, where he fills page after page with new project concepts at record speed. He is therefore the driving force behind the cultural caravan: once an idea has taken hold of his mind, it won't let go until it has been realised!
The sound and lighting expert in striped socks. Toby is not only the "familiar face" of the Kulturkarawane, but as a trained event technician, he is also responsible for everything to do with decibels, volts, watts, lumens and safety. He takes care of the "good sound" at the concerts, lights up the stars on the Porta Nigra for the 1st Advent and makes sure that nobody bumps their head in the hustle and bustle!
Our cultural caravan whirlwind for a better world! As an environmental scientist and conservationist, Linda long favoured cuddling with African big game before life (and love) brought her to Trier. At Kulturkarawane, Linda is responsible for the ecological, regional, fair and sustainable organisation of our events.
Cultural manager, networker, globetrotter. The areas in which Tamay brings his strengths and experience to the Kulturkarawane are just as diverse as he is. As the "master of figures", he manages the commercial side of the caravan and is passionate about strategic development and cross-border cooperation. A source of ideas and an enthusiast for many wonderful projects.
Our man for beautiful, colourful images and pragmatic pixel pushing. As a freelance graphic designer under the name edelweisz, he has been responsible for the Kulturkarawane's public image since 2019. He ensures that the KuKa events are properly presented both digitally and in print. Find out more about him here:
Our videographer, drone pilot, photographer and really cute guy. Victor is either so friendly that you always give him your best smile or so unobtrusive that you forget you're the focus of a camera. The trained photographer therefore succeeds in taking aesthetically wonderful pictures with honest emotions and without a lot of frills. Even the Dutch Queen looked into his lens during her visit to Trier. More of this:
