Artfully and lovingly designed pianos scattered around the city of Trier, freshly tuned and ready for use, freely accessible and playable for everyone - at the end of "My Urban Piano Trier 2022", we will be presenting the following in the Brunnenhof together with the Moselle Music Festival a true virtuoso on her instrument:
Yeol Eum Son. The world-famous South Korean pianist already wowed festival audiences on the Moselle in 2019 with her crystalline touch, stylistic diversity and captivating interpretations. In keeping with this year's theme of the Kultursommer "Ostwind", she will now perform compositions by Russian jazz composer Nikolai Kapustin (1927-2020) that have been worked out down to the smallest detail. He was unknown for a long time until the British pianist Steve Osborne discovered Kapustin's highly intelligent and vital music for himself. Delicacy, focussed energy and dreaminess run through the gripping works of this pioneer of Soviet jazz.
Yeol Eum Son's current album "Kapustin", released on "Onyx" in 2021, focuses on selected works by the musician. With her emotionality and precision, Yeol Eum Son was not only one of the pioneer of Soviet jazz's favourite interpreters of his music, but also a good friend. This evening is therefore a tribute to the fascinating Russian sound creator, where lovers of classical composition techniques will get their money's worth just as much as admirers of the immediacy of jazz!
