The Rhineland-Palatinate Music Forum, in collaboration with Kulturkarawane Trier and MoselPop, invites you to the Meet-up on 24 October, 4 pm–8 pm at the TUFA in Trier in.
How can music events and festivals be made accessible to as many people as possible? What specific steps can organisers take to break down barriers, and how can this issue be permanently embedded in planning, communication and practice?
On 24 October, the MoselPop network, Kulturkarawane Trier and the Rhineland-Palatinate Music Forum are inviting all interested event organisers and cultural professionals to Trier for a day of inspiration and discussion. Look forward to insights into MoselPop’s activities, best practices from festivals and inspiration from, amongst others,. Julia Mädrich (Diversity and Inclusion Trainer, Sommerblut Festival) on the topic of accessibility in booking and curation. There will, of course, also be time for sharing personal experiences and exchanging views.

Workshop: Concert Tour
In this session, we’ll take a look together at the entire visitor experience: communication, travel, entry, the visit itself, engagement and departure. We ask ourselves: How do people find out about a concert? How can information be conveyed in a way that is clear, accessible and via various channels? What helps to ensure a smooth journey, a relaxed arrival and a hassle-free entry? What do audience members need during the event to feel safe, well-informed and engaged? We’ll also look at involvement both behind the scenes and on stage: how are acts selected and booked? Who is involved in organising an event? And how can the stage, backstage areas and programme be made accessible?

The event
How can we organise events that everyone can take part in?
People with disabilities should be able to take part in everything.
This is important in the music scene too.
Concerts and festivals should be open to as many people as possible.
But how do we go about doing that?
The Rhineland-Palatinate Music Forum and Kulturkarawane invite you to an open meeting.
We’d like to talk about this:
- What’s already going well?
- Where are the remaining barriers?
- How can people with disabilities be better included?
- How can they take part as guests?
- How can they stand on stage?
- How can you get involved in the organisation?
- What can we achieve with limited time and money?
- What can we learn from one another?
People talk about the barriers they themselves face.
You know what’s difficult. You also know what can help.
We are showcasing examples from Rhineland-Palatinate. The MoselPop network is also sharing its experiences.

Getting here
In front of the TUFA there is Two parking spaces for people with disabilities.
The next accessible Bus stop is the Bus stop City library. From there, it’s about a 150-metre walk to the TUFA.
The nearest barrier-free car park is the Underground car park Viehmarkt. From there, it’s about a 350-metre walk to the TUFA.
Entrance
The entrance to the Great Hall is on the ground floor of the TUFA and is at ground level.
The door to the hall opens outwards.
Toilet
An accessible toilet is on the same level.
The toilet is just a few metres away from the hall.
On-site assistance
There is a member of staff on hand to help you in the entrance area.
You can ask them anything at any time.
She’ll be happy to help you.
If you need help, she’ll accompany you to the bar.
She’ll also accompany you into the hall.
Wheelchair and support
Do you need a space for your wheelchair in the hall?
In that case, our contact person will be happy to help you.
Your companion can also sit right next to you.
If you have a guide dog, it’s very welcome.
If you need some peace and quiet
The door to the hall will remain closed during the event.
You can leave the hall at any time.
There is a quiet room in the same building.
You can also go outside if you need some peace and quiet.
Sign language interpreters
Sign language interpreters will be present at the event.
Subtitles will appear on screen.
