Flying Grass Carpet

The Flying Grass Carpet is Versatile use from 24 square metres to 900 square metres - as a surprising green meeting place for spontaneous activities as well as a spacious festival zone with room for culture, exchange and community. It is a symbol of creative urban design: green oases emerge from concrete deserts, urban squares are transformed into temporary parks full of life, encounters and community. People come together, have a picnic, play, make music or relax - without the pressure to consume, but with a great deal of openness and joy in being together.

In the years 2024 and 2025 you will find our smaller Flying Grass Carpet in various sizes at changing locations in the city centre - as a green oasis for placemaking activities, neighbourly encounters and creative formats. For 2026 we are planning the return of the large Flying Grass Carpet - as a powerful symbol for a city that is conceived collectively, fairly and green.

The carpet also makes an ecological statement: The artificial turf is made from lovingly crafted cutting waste from various sports turfs - a successful example of upcycling. After several years of use, the material can be completely reprocessed by our partners. This means that the carpet not only looks good, but is also a sustainable source of inspiration in terms of the circular economy.

Accompanied by collaborations with numerous initiatives from the fields of art, culture and climate protection - including Local Agenda 21, TUFA Trier, the MoselMusikFestival and Trier Theatre - a variety of programmes are being created around the Flying Grass Carpet to revitalise urban spaces: temporary, consumer-free and full of creative potential.
